Before we arrive
You’ll receive confirmation of your visit and the information needed for your property. Use this checklist as a starting point.
- Your MPRN, normally shown on your electricity bill, and the property’s Eircode.
- The age of your house and the age of any extensions. Just tell us what you know; you don’t need to gather age documents for this checklist.
- Any information or documentation you have on upgrades you’ve carried out, such as insulation, windows, heating or renewable energy. If you’re missing specifications or installer records, we’ll work with you to help acquire them.
- Any Declaration of Works (DOW) or grant paperwork you already have. If a DOW is needed and you don’t have it, we’ll guide you through what’s required and help you obtain it.
Don’t have all the documents? That’s okay. Send us what you have and we’ll work with you to identify what’s needed and help you acquire it, including a Declaration of Works where relevant.
Make access straightforward
Arrange safe, clear access to the relevant rooms and building services, including heating controls, the hot press, meter cupboard and attic access. Let us know about access restrictions in advance.
Your assessor gathers measurements, photographs and supporting information. The time needed varies with the property; we’ll explain what to expect when arranging the visit.
After the survey
The assessment is checked against the supporting evidence before publication. You then receive the BER certificate and advisory report. We’ll contact you if more information is needed.
If energy upgrades are still underway
Let us know before setting a date. For an assessment intended to reflect completed upgrades, the works should be finished before the survey.
