Additional boiler scrappage support for eligible applicants.
What has been announced?
SEAI’s 29 September announcement introduces €2,000 of boiler scrappage support for eligible fossil-fuel heating replacements in pre-2021 homes. The package opens from 6 October, subject to implementation. Eligible heat-pump applications already in progress receive the uplift automatically; detailed eligibility terms govern each case.
How does this fit with heat-pump grants?
The established heat-pump package offers up to €12,500: up to €6,500 for the unit, €2,000 for necessary heating-system upgrades and €4,000 for switching from qualifying existing heating. With the new eligible scrappage uplift, support can reach €14,500. The maximum depends on the property, system and qualifying works.
Our advice: compare the complete proposal for your home, including any insulation, radiators, hot-water changes and controls. A headline grant figure alone does not tell you what the finished project will cost or how it will perform.
Start with your home’s heat loss.
A heat pump needs a suitable home and a correctly designed system. Before committing to equipment, understand where heat escapes and which improvements would support your plans. SEAI may require a technical assessment before the grant application; the appropriate route depends on the home.
We can help you make sense of the BER, the upgrades already completed and the documents needed to represent them. If evidence is missing, we work with you to help obtain it.

Ask about your technical assessment →Three useful steps now
- Tell us your starting point. Your house age, current heating, completed improvements and target BER help frame the conversation.
- Review the sequence. Discuss any needed assessment, insulation and heating design before work starts, and obtain the required grant approval.
- Plan the paperwork. Keep product information and installer records. We’ll help with the BER evidence and Declaration of Works.
We stay with you after the certificate.
Our aim is to help your BER properly reflect the work you’ve invested in. You can call us afterwards for independent advice. If you have previously received a BER from AssessMyBER, your repeat BER receives a 50% discount.
